Client Profile

oxygen air bubblesAirway Oxygen is a supplier of a complete line of homecare needs. They serve all of lower Michigan with items from oxygen therapy supplies to hospital beds. Airway employs over 300 individuals and over 150 relied upon the affected computer system.

Airway Oxygen’s mission and vision is the belief that “we can have a positive impact on our customers’ lives through high quality products and uncompromising service. We take great pride in the reputation of our company and in the quality and integrity of our people. Our commitment to this vision will set the standards against which our competitors will be judged.”

The Challenge

When Airway Oxygen contacted Micro Visions, the company had been wrestling for over two years with a key software application that failed to perform since implementation. “It was a constant nightmare” from day one, said the Operations Director for Airway Oxygen. “It would work one day, then stop the next.” The software manufacturer insisted their application was not the problem, and Airway consulted with three different IT service providers in connection with resolving the issues before meeting with Micro Visions. By that time, thousands of dollars had been invested in time and on products, including a new $4,200 network switch, which had no effect on the problem. There was finger pointing between vendors, frustration among users and significant loss of productivity all around. When the application’s end-users were impacted, so were the departments that relied on them. The negative impact on the company eventually trickled down to Airway's clients and threatened the company's bottom line when delays began to hamper their ability to deliver needed product.

Our Solution

Micro Visions’ objective experts, armed with their Securelink Essentials tools, collected and analyzed server and network data for three days. By the end of the week, the problem areas had been identified and corrected. Prior IT service providers had been working on the wrong part of the system, attempting to fix something that was not broken, rather than addressing the issue that ultimately proved to be the cause. ”People I didn’t even know were coming up and hugging me,” said the Micro Visions’ Senior Systems Engineer overseeing the case. “Having an objective team involved eliminated a lot of finger pointing and provided us with the answers we needed” said the Operations Director, “I’m appreciative of that.” The in-house IT staff was ecstatic that they could finally focus on their jobs without the distraction of a system that failed to work on a daily basis. “The Micro Visions engineer’s technical skills were impeccable and his communication skills were top rate,” said a Systems Administrator for Airway.
